Created in June 28, 2008, in « Palais du Nouveau Siècle » in Lille (France) "More, Ice & Ray" was specially composed by Jean-Philippe Vanbeselaere to celebrate the 75th birthday of Maurice ANDRÉ. It was both the last concert and the last public appearance of Maurice André, during which the large majority of his former students, french and foreign, have come together to perform with much emotion this composition front of their Master.
In tribute to the international reputation of the famous french musician, Jean-Philippe VANBESELAERE has composed a musical triptych accessible to all trumpet players. Indeed, each of the parties that make up the 3 movements is written respecting a technical level, from the more easy to difficult, and can be performed by students or professionals.
Using different musical languages, the score is above all festive and rhythmic, while also emphasizing quality of melodies and themes, and highlighting the wealth of timbres and mixtures colors of the Trumpet Ensemble. The nod to the anniversary of Maurice André is in the central part of this composition.
So, as both symbolic and respectful, Jean-Philippe Vanbeselaere used each syllable of the name and the first name of Maurice André to write the title of this composition.
