LE LIVRE DES MERVEILLES DU MONDE : Marco Polo, while a prisoner at Genova, dictated to his cellmate a detailed account of his travels : “Wonders of the World” represents the most famous and significant book in travel literature. In this composition by Jean-Philippe Vanbeselaere, Marco Polo sets off from his native Venice to the tune of a Tarentella, to cross the desert of Central Asia in search of the Kubilai Khan ; his trek leads him to discover China, where he becomes governor of the city of Yang-Chou for three years. Marco Polo finally returns to his city of Venice, already dreaming of new expeditions.
